Hello everyone. Today is the seventh of July and what an interesting holiday weekend I had. Due to having a little one that just turned six months old, my wife and I did not really get a chance to go out and celebrate the birth of our nation. We watched several fireworks displays from our front porch and did get the chance to go to my aunts for about an hour to watch a display from there.

I must first describe to you the low point of the weekend. Upon returning back from my vacation to Hilton Head Island, I learned that it did nothing but rain here for two straight weeks. Our basement was not flooded, but it did have small puddles and was very damp due to all of the water pushing up through the cracks. This moisture was soaked up by several pieces of furniture, shoes, and other fabric covered items...all breading grounds for mold. We spent the first day back from vacation cleaning out our basement and throwing several items away due to the severe "infestation" of mold. It really took a toll on my wife. She spent much of the day in tears and was very concerned about our little one breathing in the spores. I reassured her that everything would be alright, but it was still a stressful situation.

The highlight of the weekend however was my little one getting his first tooth! On July third my wife felt the little white tooth poking out of his bottom gum. Upon looking into his mouth and battling his tongue which he was using to explore the new addition to his body, my eyes capture their first glance of the wee-thing. I also learned why Gerber makes teething rings. If you stick your finger into a baby's mouth when they are getting teeth...IT HURTS!!!

Tomorrow, my wife and I are heading to Philadelphia to see a doctor at the University of Pennsylvania. She has been in pain for several months now due to an accident she had has a teenager. She has had several surgeries over the years but nothing has seemed to work. I will post more information about how we make out at a later date. Until then, have a great day!
